Nature Framed | A Perfectly Imperfect Christmas
For my annual Christmas card, I create a collage with natural objects that I find on my walks. I then photograph, print it and turn it into Christmas cards. This year my Christmas flat lay collage features ivy leaves, holly berries, pine needles, bark and various seed pods that I gathered at the beginning of winter.
Once I put it all together and stood back to admire my creation, I saw a strong resemblance between my collage and our actual Christmas tree that we we put up last week. A slightly lopsided fresh evergreen adorned with semi-functional lights and a motley hodge podge of uncoordinated ornaments collected over the years, each with its own story. A little haphazard, a bit crooked, very unmatched, quite messy... but totally lovely and completely meaningful to me.
I'm not seeking a picture perfect Christmas this year.
May my decorations be uncoordinated and my Christmas dinner a little over cooked. May my house be a little messy and the bubbly a little flat. May I not be the perfect hostess and my guests not be the perfect guests. And may I be perfectly fine with all this imperfection.
I'm looking forward to a Perfectly Imperfect Christmas this year.
And I wish all of you the same!
