Springsation | Welcome New Beginnings
Spring is here! Magnolias are blooming, the squirrels are cavorting, birds are building their nests, my garden beds are bursting with daffodils and my planter boxes are overflowing with violas. I feel like I'm in a Walt Disney animation movie where everything is happy and colorful and only more good things are bound to follow.
New Beginnings are on the way. It's time to welcome them!
I tried to showcase these fleeting weeks in April by capturing them in my floral installation photographs, titled "Springsation".
Airy, delicate, whimsical and hopeful.
Wordsworth would be happy to note that long after the daffodils are gone, I will be able recapture them in my mind's eye. But if ever I need a reminder, then these photos will help bring Spring back to me in a rush.
I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud
by William Wordsworth
I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.
Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the milky way,
They stretched in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.
The waves beside them danced; but they
Out-did the sparkling waves in glee:
A poet could not but be gay,
In such a jocund company:
I gazed—and gazed—but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:
For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.
And finally, I leave with a few of my favorite inspirational bird's nest quotes that are so apt for this time of year.
Little by little
The bird makes it's nest.
French Proverb
To every bird, his own nest is beautiful.
Italian proverb
The shell must break before the bird can fly
Tennyson
You must have faith. A baby bird never learns to fly unless it jumps out of the nest.
You will have a lot more respect for a bird after you try making a nest.
Cynthia Lewis
Life if full of new beginnings,
And a new day tomorrow brings,
Sleep well.
